I am a visual artist and user experience designer with a background in technology research. I use art and design-led methods to explore digital technologies and create engaging user experiences. I make interactive art and playful connected user experiences.
I co-founded Active Design Lab, a creative design practice in Suffolk, creating digital media experiences for clients and partners, including prototypes, interface concepts and art comissions.
As a Principal Researcher in BT's Research Laboratories, I investigated new kinds of connected experiences in work, domestic, and cultural settings. I led multi-disciplinary teams and collaborated with arts organisations, industry and academic partners to explore multi-platform community participation. We created experiences for broadband TV, mixed reality art installations, location-based games, and shared virtual environments for television. These have received industry recognition, including an Arts and Business Award nomination, two Interactive BAFTA nominations and a Royal Television Society Award.
My skills include creative direction, scenario and concept creation, user experience and interaction design, prototyping, user trials, delivering live events, project management, multi-disciplinary team leadership and relationship management. My financial experience includes securing project funding and managing collaborative research budgets with multiple funding streams.
I have an MA in Computer Graphics and Animation from the NCCA Bournemouth University and a BA (Hons) in Design, specialising in animation, from Edinburgh College of Art .
